Create Share

This command shares a file system folder on the network with other users. Shares are typically created on network file servers.

Folder to Share

Enter the full physical path to the file system folder that will be shared.

Remote System

To create the share on a remote system on the network, enter the name of the remove computer here. To create the share on the local system, leave this field empty.

Share Name

Enter the name of the folder as you wish it to be visible on the network. For instance, if the computer name is PC, and the Share Name is Share, the shared folder will be accessible on the network using the UNC path \\PC\Share.

Share Description

Enter the textual description of the folder to be shared.

 Notes

• Use the Set Access Control command to grant access rights to the shared folder, identifying the Share object by its Share Name. A typical priviledge would be granting Everyone read access to the shared folder.
