Conditions

This help topic applies to the Express edition of InstallAware versions earlier than InstallAware 2005.

The Conditions page allows you to check the target system for a minimum of available hardware and software. It also enables installing runtime components on the target system, if they are not already found. An enhanced selection of runtime components is available with the Enterprise edition of InstallAware.

Minimum Operating System

If you choose an operating system, the installation will not proceed unless the target computer has at least that operating system installed. If you choose an operating system platform, the installation will not work on any platform except the chosen one.

Minimum Internet Explorer Version

If you choose an IE version, the installation will not proceed unless the target computer has a browser that is the chosen version or newer.

Minimum Memory

This feature allows to check for a minimum of physical memory installed on the target system. The installation will not proceed unless the minimum indicated amount of physical memory is installed. This feature does not check for available virtual memory.

Minimum Resolution

This feature allows to check for a minimum display resolution on the target system. The installation will not proceed unless the minimum resolution is available on the target system.

Windows Installer 2.0

Version 2.0 of Windows Installer must be present on the target system for the installation to run. Make sure this component is checked to assure Windows Installer 2.0 will be installed if not already present.

If you uncheck this component, your setups may fail .

Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1

If your application runs on the .NET Framework, check this component to install Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 on the target system, if not already present.

Microsoft JSharp Redistributable

If your application is both a .NET application and also requires the JSharp redistributable, check this component. The JSharp redistributable will be installed if not already present on the target system.

DirectX 9b

If your application is a game, or makes use of the DirectX APIs, check this component. The DirectX 9b redistributable will be installed if not already present on the target system.

MDAC Refresh 2.8

If your application is a database application that makes use of data access components, check this. The MDAC 2.8 refresh will be installed if not already present on the target system.

Visual Basic VM SP6

If your application is a Visual Basic 6 application, check this component. The Visual Basic 6, Service Pack 6 virtual machine will be installed if not already present on the target system.

Visual C++ Runtime SP6

If your application is a Visual C++ application and is dynamically linked to ADO/DAO/MFC/VC language DLLs, check this component. The Visual C++ 6 Runtime, Service Pack 6, will be installed if not already present on the target system.
