Hi CBH Can you please check your Developer installation, to confirm that you have installed all necessary plug-ins required by your installation? Also, did you upgrade from an older version (older than 5.0)? If so, please read the "Upgrading from InstallAware 2005 Second Edition" topic in ...

Hello,

The MSI 3.0 plug-in installs for all languages. And it will automatically pick the correct language at runtime...so if this was the whole reason you wanted to get into plug-in authoring, no need!

Let me know...

Hi The answer is yes and no. The system administrator must have set the "Always Install Elevated" system policy to "true" using the Group Policy Editor. Then and only then will MSI do elevated privilege installs - otherwise, it will not automatically elevate privileges. If you kn...

Hi! The best way to do this is using the Check Service command. Please check the SQL Express 2005 check-box in the Application Runtimes visual view. Then, switch to the code view, and study the code in the include files that the IDE has added for you. The auto generated code is for SQL Express 2005,...

Thanks for your appreciation of our work - always makes our day here! 4) If you check this box, Windows Installer will self register the DLL. But it will do this by calling the DLL's self registration mechanism. So the answer is yes and no - yes, Windows Installer is registering the DLL; no, registr...

1) If InstallAware needed those runtimes, it would not run unless they were always installed, which is not the case. The prepeq dialog is shown by default for all plug-in installed runtimes and can be disabled through the script (and the timing for the runtimes rescheduled in the script too, of cour...

Hi Anton! The queue option is not available - but you can always run ngen.exe using the Run Program command and manually specify this option. Native images are supported under .NET 2.0, but you need to be using the latest version of InstallAware for this - just download the trial for version 5.0.

Hi Steve! You should be able to do this if you add a Print button to your form, and then capture the click event on that button, and call Run Program on the license agreement file, open wordpad or notepad, with the print command line parameter. You may study the CD Autorun template if you would like...

Hi GoDanno Let me try to explain why that inconsistency exists. The visual views in Install Aware automatically parse your setup script and render that information for you visually (and let you update it visually). With templates, no files have been chosen to be installed yet, so $TARGETDIR$ does no...

Charles Thank you for your question. Do you know if this information is available in the registry? You could try reading it from there using the Read Registry command. I'd suggest searching for this path in the registry using regedit.exe and seeing if it turns up anywhere, then jotting down that pat...
